In the first round he got the 19.47% of the vote and went to second ballot against the center-left candidate Vincenzo Bernazzoli, president of the province of Parma, confident in the knowledge of the 39.20% of the vote. May 21 Pizzarotti won the runoff race with 60.22% of the vote and therefore became mayor of Parma. He is the first mayor of an administrative center belonging to the Five Stars Movement.
