Jim Nilsen has spent 20 years in Alaska devoted to commercial fishing and to photography. He graduated in photography at Spokane Niagara Community College. His photos of the fishing industry have been widely featured on magazines, book covers, calendars and also used for advertising in Canada. Since 1991 he has devoted himself exclusively to landscape photography in the world, visiting and photographing countries such as: Brazil, Greece, Guatemala, Italy, Malta, Mexico, Morocco, Portugal and Turkey. Jim has exhibited his works at Cherry Creek in Denver, CO; Main Street Arts Festival in Ft. Worth, TX; Bellevue Arts & Crafts in Bellevue, WA. Jim has been awarded several times: “2000 Best of Photography” Bayou City Arts Festival in Houston, TX; “1997 Best of Photography” Main Street Ft. Worth Arts Festival in Ft. Worth, TX; “1996 Award of Merit” Utah Arts Festival; “1996 Best 2-D Art Award” Art at the Vineyard in Eugene, OR; and “1993 Award of Excellence”, PGC NW Arts & Crafts in Bellevue, WA.
